People with asthma are at a greater risk for complications due to COVID-19. The Allergy and Asthma Network has recommended the following guidelines for those with asthma:

1. Avoid your asthma triggers. This includes cleaning supplies when disinfecting your home. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, like bleach, which contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can trigger asthma attacks.

2. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily (doorknobs, countertops, sink handles, etc).

3. Take your asthma medication exactly as prescribed.

4. Take steps to cope with stress and anxiety. It is natural for people to stressed right now, and strong emotions can trigger an asthma attack.
